The Miami Dolphins picked up their first win of the 2020 NFL season on Thursday, as they defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars, 31-13.
The road win was a big boost for Miami, and it held the Jaguars to just 318 yards of total offense in the game.
Linebacker Kyle Van Noy, who signed with Miami this past offseason, talked about the pride he had in the Dolphins’ defensive performance.
“It’s something I take pride in, being a disruptive player,” he said. “I was close last week. I felt I let my team down by not making the play with Josh Allen. I read the play but just dropped the ball.”
Van Noy had two near misses in last week’s loss, one with a would-be tackle and another win a near interception.
“It was good to finish the play to sack [Gardner Minshew],” Van Noy said. “To make my moves and get to the quarterback. [And] somehow the ball seems to find it into my hands somehow in that big pile. It’s kinda funny. I was a couple yards away from the pile and I said ‘I got the ball,’ and the ref is looking at the pile, so it was kinda funny.”
Van Noy finished the game with a sack and recovered a fumble. The Dolphins forced two turnovers in the win.
Miami will look to keep the momentum going next week when it takes on the Seattle Seahawks.
