Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores said on Saturday that the status of wide receiver DeVante Parker against the Buffalo Bills will be determined prior to the start of the game.
Parker dealt with hamstring issues during the Dolphins’ training camp this season, then sat out the second half of the opener against the New England Patriots when he aggravated his left hamstring.
The Dolphins dropped a 21-11 decision to the Patriots, with Parker’s absence coming after he had made four receptions for 47 yards. Those catches turned out to be tied for the team-high in the game, with Myles Gaskin grabbing four of Ryan Fitzpatrick’s tosses for 26 yards.
Since being selected by the Dolphins with the 14th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Parker has had issues staying healthy.
Last season marked the first time in his NFL career that the 27-year-old Parker had played in all 16 games, which resulted in his best season yet.
Parker snagged 72 passes for 1,202 yards and nine touchdowns and was looking to use that as a springboard for an even better 2020 campaign.
The absence of Paker would be a huge blow for the Dolphins, who can’t afford to fall two games out of first place in the AFC East immediately out of the gate.
