Miami Dolphins Rumors: Dolphins Internally ‘Raving’ About Tua Tagovailoa

The public endorsement of Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as the team’s reserve quarterback apparently pales in comparison to the rave reviews that Tagovailoa is receiving from inside the organization.

Tagovailoa was officially installed as the backup to Ryan Fitzpatrick after the team announced that it would be releasing Josh Rosen after efforts to trade Rosen came up short.

When Tagovailoa underwent his hip surgery last November, there was some doubt as to whether he’d even be able to play during the 2020 season.

In addition, when Tagovailoa entered April’s NFL draft, some teams were apparently reluctant to invest their top pick in a player who might end up seeing his career held back by injuries.

The talent of Tagovailoa hasn’t been in question, which is why the Dolphins were willing to use their top pick in the draft, the fifth overall selection, on the University of Alabama product.

Keeping tabs on Tagovailoa’s continued rehabilitation was made more difficult because of the coronavirus pandemic, but the Dolphins made sure to carefully monitor the rookie’s health status.

The end result is that Tagovailoa is being groomed to eventually take over for Fitzpatrick, who will be 38 years old by the time the 2020 season is scheduled to conclude.

While the early reviews about Tagovailoa could change down the road, it seems clear that the Dolphins see a bright future for both him and the franchise.
