Just a day after it was reported that the Miami Dolphins were looking to trade quarterback Josh Rosen, the former first-round pick has been surprisingly cut.
The Dolphins acquired Rosen last season in exchange for a second-round pick.
In his single season in Miami, Rosen played in six games, passing for just 567 yards, one touchdown and five interceptions.
Rosen surely still possesses the talent that made him a first-round choice just a few years ago, but he has had a tough start to his NFL career.
With the release, hopefully Rosen gets the chance to sign with another team in the league and compete for a job. Rookie Tua Tagovailoa now becomes the clear backup quarterback behind veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Only time will tell if the prized rookie is able to move further up the depth chart.
