Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross responded to criticism over hosting a fundraiser for President Donald Trump in an interview with the New York Times.

David Gelles shared Ross’ answers to various questions regarding the president.

Gelles began the interview by asking Ross why he is supporting Trump.

“I mean, first of all, who said I was?” Ross responded.

Gelles then pointed out the fact that Ross hosted a fundraiser for the president.

“Right,” Ross said. “So I mean, look. I’ve known President Trump for a long time. I’ve known him and I’ve liked him. I don’t agree with a lot of his policies. I believe there’s a lot of good, and I believe there’s a lot of bad.

“At that point there was a fund-raiser at my house I was looking for certain things to benefit New York. But I haven’t really made a decision who I’m voting for.”

Gelles then asked Ross what he was looking to benefit by holding the fundraiser.

“I’ve gotten requests from the governor and people in different parts of the administration to help raise money for New York with the people that I know in Washington, to get money to the cities, to the M.T.A,” Ross responded.

The Dolphins owner then shared where he was at odds with the president in terms of his policies.

“His climate issues is certainly one of my biggest of all,” Ross said. “I mean, I couldn’t be any more believing in the environment and climate change.

“I think he’s been a little divisive.

“But I think there are a lot of great business policies he’s enacted that have been fantastic and nobody else could have done it but him.”

Ross has recently caught some pushback from former Dolphins Kenny Still, even though he did donate $13 million to fight systemic racism.

However, Stills claimed that it was simply a “tax write-off.”

While the Dolphins prepare for the upcoming 2020 NFL season, it seems that Ross’ political leanings could be a hot topic for the team moving forward.
