Report: Tua Tagovailoa Showing Major Signs That He’s Fully Recovered From Hip Injury

One major concern regarding rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been his health.

Tagovailoa missed the end of his collegiate season at the University of Alabama due to a serious hip injury. Despite that, the Miami Dolphins selected him with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

On Wednesday, Tagovailoa showed clear signs that he has recovered from that injury.

“But there was, once again, a quarterback Tua Tagovailoa highlight,” Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald wrote.

“On one play, he scrambled 18 yards up the middle, avoiding two defenders.

“The fact Tagovailoa has regained his mobility nine months after major hip surgery is very encouraging.

“One of his Alabama-based doctors, Lyle Cain, said the CAT scan of his hip was ‘perfect.’

“The Dolphins have felt comfortable enough with his hip — and his mobility — to use plays that maximize his ability to move inside and outside the pocket.

This is incredibly good news for Dolphins fans.

Tagovailoa showed incredible poise in the pocket throughout his college career. He also showed an ability to create plays with his feet.

While his coaching staff will surely want him to stay inside the pocket for the most part, it’s great to know that the youngster feels confident enough in his body to make plays on the ground.

Hopefully, this ability will make it hard for NFL defenses to game plan for Tagovailoa for many seasons to come.
