Miami Dolphins News: Dolphins Place Xavien Howard on Reserve/COVID-19 List

On Tuesday, Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list by the team.

Due to a medical privacy agreement with the NFLPA, the Dolphins were unable to provide any further details on Howard’s status and whether or not he had contracted the virus.

The Dolphins’ first scheduled regular season game is set for Sept. 13 against the New England Patriots. Given the lack of information available, it’s uncertain as to whether Howard will be available for that contest.

Howard was already attempting to come back from season-ending knee surgery in 2019, which was the culmination of a frustrating season. The 27-year-old Howard was limited to just five games and only a single interception after having made the Pro Bowl following the 2018 season

The absence of Howard in the secondary could offer Dolphins’ first-round pick Noah Igbinoghene the opportunity to show what he can offer the team.
