Miami Dolphins Head Coach Brian Flores Reacts to Albert Wilson Opting Out of Season

On Wednesday, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Albert Wilson announced that he would be opting out of the upcoming season.

While it surely causes complications for the team’s coaching staff, Dolphins head coach Brian Flores offered his full support for Wilson.

“I support Albert’s decision,” Dolphins coach Brian Flores said. “I know he made it with his family in mind. I want what is best for Albert, as I do all of our players.”

One day before Wilson announced that he’d be opting out, fellow receiver Allen Hurns did the same.

All of a sudden, the Dolphins are quite thin at the receiver position. How that impacts the rest of the Dolphins’ offseason remains to be seen.

What is interesting to consider is how these changes may impact the team’s approach to prized rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. With fewer proven receivers to play with, Tagovailoa may have a more difficult time transitioning from college to the NFL.

That could result in the University of Alabama product spending the majority of the upcoming season on the bench, while veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick tries to help the team overcome its deficiencies in the passing game.

Hopefully, no more Dolphins players decide to opt out of the season. However, given the trend created over the last two days, that seems quite unlikely.
