Up until Tuesday, the Miami Dolphins were amongst a small group of NFL teams that had yet to see a player opt out of the upcoming season.

That changed when veteran wide receiver Allen Hurns announced that he would indeed be opting out. He took to his personal social media pages to make the announcement.

Hurns entered the NFL as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014. Since then, he’s become known as a dependable receiver with long-ball potential.

He’s scored 25 touchdowns and recorded 241 total receptions for 3,380 yards in his entire NFL career.

Hurns played his first season with the Dolphins last year and recorded 47 receptions, 416 yards and two touchdowns.

With Hurns opting out, there is now a big opportunity for youngsters Isaiah Ford and Gary Jennings Jr. to claim the fifth and sixth receiver jobs.

As for Hurns, it will be interesting to see if he attempts to make a comeback next year.
