Miami Dolphins News: Dolphins WR Preston Williams Cleared for Football Activity

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Preston Williams has been cleared for football activity with the team as he continues to come back from last season’s ACL injury.

Williams signed last year with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Colorado State University and managed to provide some offense during the team’s early-season struggles.

Catching multiple passes in each of the first eight games, Williams’ 2019 season abruptly came to an end after he tore his ACL against the New York Jets on Nov. 3.

That Jets game marked the first win of the season for the Dolphins, who ended up winning five of their last nine games.

Williams’ rehabilitation was made somewhat more complicated because of the restrictions in place due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, he appears to have had no setbacks along the way and figures to be an asset in the year ahead.

It’s likely that Williams will start the season catching passes from Ryan Fitzpatrick, but the Dolphins are hoping that top pick Tua Tagovailoa will be at quarterback by the end of the season.

The first chance Williams will get to show that he’s back to full health will be in the Dolphins’ scheduled season opener on Sept. 13 against the New England Patriots.
