One day after Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores released a powerful statement about George Floyd’s death, DeVante Parker is backing him up.
On Friday, the 39-year-old coach shared his thoughts on Floyd’s death and mirrored the opinions that many people are sharing about the situation.
Flores – who is one of just three African-American head coaches in the NFL – shined a light on the peaceful protests started by former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick in 2016.
Parker found that part of his statement particularly moving.
He shared a graphic with Flores’ quote on his Instagram story on Saturday afternoon.
Despite being the fifth-youngest head coach in the NFL, Flores is clearly not afraid to share his beliefs. He recognizes his stature and is using his platform to try to change things for the better.
Flores was the first NFL coach to release a statement.
Parker was recently in the news for his Instagram beef with New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas.
Now, he’s fighting bigger battles.
Dolphins cornerback Byron Jones and safety Eric Rowe, among others, also stood up for Flores on Twitter.
