The Miami Dolphins won five of their final nine games in 2019, giving the team a lot to look forward to in the 2020 season.
So much so, that former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson believes that the Dolphins will win the AFC East next season.
USA Today picked the Dolphins to finish third in the division with a 6-10 record, but count Johnson in as one of the believers in Miami’s young core.
The Dolphins will have a revamped roster in head coach Brian Flores’ second season, as they added a plethora of talent in both the draft and free agency.
Free agent acquisitions such as cornerback Byron Jones (five years, $82.5 million), linebacker Kyle Van Noy (four years, $51 million) and defensive end Shaq Lawson (three years, $30 million) will help bolster a defense that allowed the third most yards in the NFL in 2019.
The offense also will see some turnover with the drafting of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and the signing of running back Jordan Howard to a two-year deal.
And for what it’s worth, Johnson thinks that it will be Miami that takes the division crown from the New England Patriots in the post-Tom Brady era.
