The Miami Dolphins are continuing to make efforts to upgrade their roster, with the latest reported effort focusing on free agent cornerback Logan Ryan.
As the tweet notes, the main competition for the Dolphins is their AFC East rivals, the New York Jets.
The 29-year-old Ryan has seven years of NFL experience, spending his first four seasons as a member of the New England Patriots, who had drafted him in the third round of the 2013 draft.
During those four seasons with the Patriots, he was part of two Super Bowl championship teams. He collected 13 interceptions and returned one for a touchdown over that span, while also forcing four fumbles and stopping five opponents behind the line of scrimmage.
That Patriots connection helps explain the Dolphins’ pursuit of Ryan. Miami head coach Brian Flores was an assistant coach with New England from 2010 to 2018 and tutored members of the team on the defensive side of the ball.
More recently, Ryan spent the last three years with the Tennessee Titans, finally making some noise during the 2019 season after two years of limited production.
Last year, Ryan had four interceptions, forced four fumbles and also stopped four opposing ball-carriers behind the line.
If Ryan does reunite with Flores, it remains uncertain when he and the rest of the Dolphins will be allowed back at team facilities due to the coronavirus pandemic.
