The Miami Dolphins have been signing a number of their rookies to multi-year contracts for quite some time now, and on Monday, prized rookie Tua Tagovailoa inked his own rookie contract.
Since the Dolphins selected Tagovailoa with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft, the entire region of South Florida has been buzzing with excitement.
The excitement was made evident when it was reported that Tagovailoa’s No. 1 jersey had become one of the top-selling jerseys on the league’s merchandise website.
While Tagovailoa comes with a bit of baggage in the form of a lengthy injury history, there is no doubt that he is one of the most talented rookies entering the NFL this season.
In fact, if it weren’t for his past injuries, it’s quite possible that he would have been the No. 1 overall selection last month.
He’s also a proven winner and leader, two characteristics that every NFL franchise looks for in a franchise passer. During his time at the University of Alabama, Tagovailoa finished with 7,442 passing yards, 87 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions.
Without a doubt, the Dolphins expect Tagovailoa to accomplish all that and more in his NFL career.
