Miami Dolphins News: Dolphins Sign 10 Undrafted Free Agents

On Wednesday, the Miami Dolphins added a lot of fresh names to their roster when they signed 10 undrafted free agents.

“The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed 10 undrafted college free agents: wide receiver Matt Cole, tackle Jonathan Hubbard, linebacker Kylan Johnson, defensive tackle Benito Jones, tackle Nick Kaltmayer, defensive tackle Ray Lima, wide receiver Kirk Merritt, defensive end Tyshun Render, center Donell Stanley and tight end Bryce Sterk,” the team’s official site announced.

As is clear by the position breakdown, the Dolphins are still looking to add talent and depth to both sides of the trenches.

While none of the players heard their names called during the NFL draft, many enjoyed quite successful collegiate careers.

Merritt was a two-year starter at Arkansas State University and caught 70 passes for 806 yards and 12 touchdowns in his senior year.

Jones earned second-team All-SEC honors as a senior at the University of Mississippi and notched 30 tackles, good for most in the conference by a nose tackle.

Finally, Sterk is an exciting tight end prospect despite not having played the position since high school. He was a defensive standout at Montana State University, but the Dolphins are interested in utilizing his impressive 6-foot-5, 216-pound frame on the offensive side of the ball.

While it will be a long road to NFL stardom for any of these undrafted free agents, there’s no doubt that diamonds in the rough are found every year by NFL teams.

Hopefully, there are a few of those diamonds in this bunch.
