Report: Miami Dolphins Want Both No. 3 and No. 5 Pick in NFL Draft

The Miami Dolphins may be on the verge of having a historically good draft.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins are hoping to acquire the No. 3 overall pick via trade without giving up their own No. 5 pick.

“A source who has been in touch with the Dolphins confirmed to me that Miami is trying to trade for No. 3, but without necessarily giving up No. 5,” he wrote.

The current owner of the No. 3 pick is the Detroit Lions. At the moment, it is unclear what the Lions would need to part ways with their highly valuable pick.

Chances are good the Dolphins would have to deal both the No. 18 and No. 26 picks, but that likely is not where it would end. A number of picks later in this year’s draft or even future first-rounders are not out of the question.

If the Dolphins are able to get their wish and nab the No. 3 pick, it is highly likely that they would take one of the top quarterbacks and top offensive tackles in the draft class.

When the Dolphins were able to accumulate their three first-round picks for this year’s draft, fans knew that draft night was going to be an exciting one.

However, even for those most optimistic, the chance to select two players within the top five was probably not considered a possibility.

In just over 24 hours, fans will find out whether or not it actually is.
