Report: Miami Dolphins Looking to Trade Up From No. 18 Pick to Select Top-4 Offensive Tackle

The Miami Dolphins are preparing for an NFL draft that will likely have implications on the success of the franchise for years to come.

That is of course because they have three total picks in the first round. According to one report, the Dolphins are trying to trade up from their No. 18 pick to vastly improve their offensive front.

“According to league sources, the Dolphins have had preliminary discussions about moving up from the No. 18 pick — with the goal of putting the franchise in position to land one of the top-four offensive tackles in the draft,” Omar Kelly of the Sun Sentinel wrote.

The reason why trading up from the No. 18 pick to select a top offensive tackle is expected to be necessary is because the top four prospects are all expected to be gone by the No. 15 pick.

The four tackles that are considered to be the best include the University of Alabama’s Jedrick Wills Jr., the University of Georgia’s Andrew Thomas, the University of Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs and the University of Louisville’s Mekhi Becton.

Luckily, even if the Dolphins fail to trade up and select one of the four top prospects, there are other talented options that are projected to go in the second and third rounds.

Within the upcoming draft, the Dolphins will look to find stars on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.

Surely, adding a top offensive tackle prospect would be a great way to rebuild the offense from the inside out.
