Miami Dolphins News: Dolphins Waive 6 Players From Team’s Roster

With less than a week before the start of the NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins took time on Saturday to waive six players from their current roster.

None of the players were considered to be candidates to challenge for starting roles, with the Dolphins looking to fill those roster spots with their league-high 14 draft picks.

Linebacker Jake Carlock had been signed as a free agent last November after having been on the New York Giants’ practice squad. Fellow linebacker Jamal Davis II was signed last December and saw action in the Dolphins’ last three games.

Defensive tackle Gerald Willis was a Miami native who had signed with the Dolphins after being cut by the Baltimore Ravens, collecting two tackles during his brief stint with Miami.

Cornerback Linden Stephens saw action in three games with the Dolphins last year and finished the year with a trio of tackles.

The two wideouts, Andy Jones and Terry Wright, did not see any action with the Dolphins last year. Jones had been on Miami’s practice squad for a good portion of the year after being released by the Detroit Lions, while Wright had been signed after having been on the Pittsburgh Steelers practice roster.

After the conclusion of the draft, the Dolphins will be signing players who went unselected during the process.
