On Tuesday, the Miami Dolphins announced that they had suspended linebacker Lawrence Timmons indefinitely. Hours later, the Dolphins shored up their defense by trading an undisclosed 2018 draft pick to the New Orleans Saints for linebacker Stephone Anthony.
The Dolphins announced the trade via Twitter.
The strong-side linebacker had a lackluster and injury-riddled 2016 campaign, but his rookie year in 2015 was far more impressive with 112 total tackles, two interceptions, and one sack. While Anthony is currently recovering from a high-ankle sprain, it seems the Dolphins are hoping he returns to his rookie form once he is able to take the field.
With Timmons out indefinitely, this is a fantastic opportunity for Anthony to hit the restart button on his young career and live up to the expectations that come with being a former first-round draft pick.
