The Miami Dolphins boast one of the most dangerous defensive lines in the NFL.
While they are routinely able to disrupt opposing quarterbacks, it seems the team’s front office is interested in adding talent to the defensive backfield, as well.
According to a recent report, the Dolphins discussed a potential blockbuster trade for Seattle Seahawks All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman this offseason.
On Wednesday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported that the Seahawks and Dolphins considered a trade that would have sent Sherman to Miami.
“We’re told by someone briefed on the situation that the Dolphins and Seahawks discussed cornerback Richard Sherman earlier this offseason, and Jarvis Landry’s name was raised,” he wrote.
He continued by saying that in the end, however, the Dolphins had t0o many concerns about Sherman, and seemed unwilling to offer Landry as a possible trade piece.
“The Dolphins admire Sherman but had concerns about his age and salary and nothing materialized and there was no indication Landry was ever offered in trade talks,” he wrote.
While Sherman would have been an incredible addition to an already talented Dolphins defense, parting ways with Landry, a Pro-Bowl receiver and fan-favorite, would have certainly been a tough pill to swallow.
At this point, a trade for Sherman seems unlikely, but the Dolphins apparent interest in strengthening their defensive backfield may be something to keep in mind as the Oct. 31 trade deadline approaches.
