According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, team owner Stephen Ross and the entire Miami Dolphins organization plan on relocating operations on Friday night to Los Angeles in preparation of Hurricane Irma hitting landfall in South Florida this weekend.

Players, coaches, families and other members of the Miami organization will all fly out to Southern California ahead of Week 2 for when the Dolphins open their season against the Los Angeles Chargers at StubHub Center on Sept. 17.

As announced earlier this week by the NFL, the Dolphins will not play their Week 1 opener on Sunday afternoon against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Hard Rock Stadium due to the massive storm approaching the coast of Miami.

“A lot these guys have a lot on their plate, moving their families,” Miami quarterback Jay Cutler said. “And you’ve got people coming in, and your house and your cars.”

On Wednesday, the Dolphins canceled practice through Sunday. The team also deflated their indoor practice bubble and decided to give players the rest of the week off to prepare for Hurricane Irma.
