Report: Dolphins may be setting up trade with Broncos before 2021 NFL Draft

The Miami Dolphins may have discussed a trade with the Denver Broncos.

Denver, who holds the No. 9 pick in this year’s draft, may be interested in moving up to No. 6 to select a quarterback to compete with Drew Lock.

According to the Sun Sentinel’s Safid Deen, Dolphins general manager Chris Grier has conversed with Broncos general manager George Paton.

“The Miami Dolphins may already have another trade partner lined up a week before the 2021 NFL draft,” Deen wrote.

Denver Broncos general manager George Paton revealed he had a conversation with his Dolphins counterpart in Chris Grier this week.”

Grier had previously said that Miami is unlikely to trade the No. 6 pick, but if the Broncos come with an offer Miami can’t refuse, it is possible that Grier changes his mind.

Miami also may be interested in moving back if a player it covets looks like he will fall in the draft.

Either way, Miami will likely be able to secure more draft capital with a trade, or it will be able to draft an elite player at No. 6.
