Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill’s 2025 season came to an untimely end in the team’s win over the New York Jets on Monday. Early in the third quarter of the contest, he went down with a gruesome knee injury and subsequently left the game.
Early Tuesday morning, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that the 31-year-old has “torn multiple ligaments in his dislocated knee” — his ACL for one — and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season. Rapoport also made it clear that Hill faces a “long road ahead” in his recovery, putting 2026 in question for the veteran.
With Hill set to undergo surgery, his injury makes his future with the Dolphins a lot murkier. A relevant tidbit regarding his future with the team is that none of his 2026 salary is guaranteed at this point in time. However, a good chunk of his salary will become guaranteed if he’s still on the roster in March.
The news about the severity of Hill’s injury is a devastating blow for a player who was looking to re-establish himself as one of the preeminent receivers in the league. He was hoping to rebound from a 2024 campaign that saw him end up with under 1,000 receiving yards for the first time this decade.
Now, Hill’s season is over after he totaled just 265 receiving yards across four games played. He finished with a team-high 67 receiving yards versus New York prior to suffering his injury.
Part of what makes Hill’s serious injury such a notable development is that he was an iron man across his first three seasons playing for the Dolphins. He missed just one game for Miami across the 2022, 2023 and 2024 seasons combined, and he suited up in every one of the team’s 17 games last season despite dealing with a nagging wrist injury.
Dolphins fans should hope for the best for Hill in his recovery, regardless of whether he has played his final game with the team or not. As he faces a long road in his recovery, the Dolphins will also face a long road the rest of the season without him.
