The Miami Dolphins are desperate to get in the win column after dropping their first two games of the season and now have a Thursday showdown against the Buffalo Bills looming. Buffalo is still undefeated in the new campaign, but the team’s latest injury news certainly isn’t going to help its chances of getting to 3-0.
Two key members of the Bills’ defensive unit have been ruled out for the upcoming Week 3 contest. Defensive tackle Ed Oliver will be sidelined with an ankle injury, while linebacker Matt Milano will sit out with a pectoral injury.
For the Dolphins, perhaps running back De’Von Achane will have a standout rushing performance this week with the Bills’ defense looking depleted. He has made a big impact in the receiving game across the first two weeks of the season but is still looking to have a statement game on the ground.
Even with Oliver and Milano out for the Bills, the Dolphins should still expect to face their toughest challenge of the 2025 campaign thus far. Simply put, Buffalo has dominated Miami when the two divisional rivals have clashed in recent years.
The Bills have come out on top in each of the last six meetings between the two squads. One has to look all the way back to September of 2022 to find the last time that the Dolphins bested the Bills. Worse yet, before that one win, Miami last beat Buffalo in December of 2018.
Hopefully, the Dolphins will be able to snap their lengthy losing streak against the Bills very soon, as a win against such a formidable team could be what Miami needs to get its season back on track.
Conversely, another loss would put Miami in an 0-3 hole and give the team exceptionally long odds to make the postseason after it missed the playoffs for the first time under head coach Mike McDaniel in the 2024 campaign. There is certainly a lot riding on Thursday’s game.
