Report: Dolphins sent scouts all over country in Week 1 of CFB season

Week 1 of the 2025 college football season won’t come to an official end until Monday night, but NFL teams have already been busy scouting players.

According to reports from various sources, the Miami Dolphins have been well-represented in Week 1, sending scouts all over the country to watch some college football.

The University of Missouri opened its season with a dominant 61-6 win over the University of Central Arkansas on Thursday, and the Dolphins and Cleveland Browns had scouts in attendance for that contest. Tigers wide receiver Marquis Johnson showed out in front of the scouts, as he finished with a game-high 134 receiving yards and tallied a touchdown.

The Dolphins were also represented at Thursday’s game between the University of Nebraska and University of Cincinnati. That game was hotly contested, as the Cornhuskers came out on top by just three points thanks in large part to a 13-point second quarter.

A couple days later, when two ranked squads — Louisiana State University and Clemson University — did battle on Saturday, the Dolphins were among 16 NFL teams in attendance.

At least one scout from the Dolphins took in Saturday’s contest between the University of Georgia and Marshall University.

The Dolphins were also on hand for Saturday’s game between the University of Texas and Ohio State University, maybe the biggest game of the weekend.

With the action continuing on Sunday, the Dolphins are getting a look at the University of South Carolina and Virginia Tech.

It’s very possible that the Dolphins were also in attendance at other games in Week 1, and there are still a couple of other games to be played to wrap up Week 1 that they could have scouts at.

The 2026 NFL Draft is almost a year away, as it won’t take place until April of next year, but it seems as if the Dolphins’ scouting department is already putting the work in to prepare for the draft.

It’s hard to make an educated guess as to where the Dolphins will land in the opening round of the 2026 NFL Draft with the 2025 season having not even started yet, but fans are at least hoping the team will make the playoffs and not have too high of a pick. Miami has made the playoffs in two of the last three seasons but missed out in the 2024 season after winning just eight games.
