Report: Tyreek Hill will be ready for Week 1 vs. Colts despite oblique injury

Unfortunately, one of the Miami Dolphins’ premier offensive talents has been dealing with an injury lately.

An oblique injury has troubled star wide receiver Tyreek Hill in recent weeks, but according to Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus, the 31-year-old will be ready to play when the Dolphins open their 2025 campaign on the road against the Indianapolis Colts.

“Receiver Tyreek Hill, who has been battling an oblique injury for three weeks, will be ready to play when Miami plays at Indianapolis, agent Drew Rosenhaus said on his Sunday night WSVN-7 segment,” Barry Jackson wrote.

“Hill is eager to practice, but the Dolphins are being cautious with him.”

The Week 1 matchup for the Dolphins is just under one fortnight away at this point, and Miami just recently wrapped up its preseason slate with an eight-point victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Aug. 23. The Dolphins finished their preseason stint with a 2-0-1 record, as they also earned a preseason win over the Detroit Lions thanks to a late-game interception from rookie Ethan Robinson.

Hill is hoping that he can put together a gaudy receiving showing against the Colts and that the performance will be a harbinger of things to come in his fourth season with the franchise. The former Kansas City Chiefs star did not look like his usual dominant self with Miami a season ago, as he ended up with his fewest receiving yards (959), receiving touchdowns (six) and first downs receiving (54) in any single season with the organization.

It’s worth noting that Hill underwent surgery this offseason to repair a wrist injury that nagged him last season. Maybe he will get back to playing at the level he was not too long ago with Miami. He led the entire NFL in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in the 2023 campaign.

The Colts matchup stands out as a very winnable game for the Dolphins, particularly in light of the claim that Hill will be good to go for Miami in Week 1. Indianapolis was a very mediocre team last season and ended the 2024 campaign with an 8-9 record. Folks should expect more of the same from the Colts in the 2025 season.

If Hill and the Dolphins play up to their standards, Miami should be able to win the Week 1 contest against Indianapolis with relative ease and start the new campaign off on the right foot.
