The Miami Dolphins have started their week off with a bang, agreeing to a massive deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers that will give both teams a new look this coming season.
According to a report, the Dolphins will trade cornerback Jalen Ramsey, tight end Jonnu Smith and a seventh-round pick to the Steelers in exchange for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a fifth-round pick.

Right around the time the news started to trickle out, Ramsey took to social media in an effort to break the news of his trade himself.

It’s a blockbuster NFL deal that resolves two of the biggest lingering questions that had been hovering over the Dolphins this offseason.
A Ramsey trade was expected but had been taking a long time to come together. Earlier this offseason, the Dolphins and Ramsey agreed to mutually seek a trade. Some reporting indicated that relationship issues were responsible for the sides reaching that point. Some other reporting indicated that it had more to do with Ramsey wanting to be back in L.A. due to family reasons.
In the end, Ramsey won’t land in L.A. However, based on his reaction on social media, he appears excited to head to Pittsburgh.
Meanwhile, questions about Smith’s future arose when the tight end asked for a new deal from the Dolphins. That request came after Smith had a big 2024 season in which he was named a Pro Bowler for the first time in his NFL career.
The Dolphins and Smith reportedly wanted to stay together, but they evidently weren’t able to get on the same page when it came to a new contract.
Now, Miami is down some key players heading into the 2025 campaign, but the addition of Fitzpatrick is certainly flashy. He is a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro who led the league in interceptions as recently as the 2022 season.
It’s an interesting deal, but as it relates to the upcoming season, the cornerback and tight end positions are question marks for Miami. It will be worth monitoring whether the team tries to address those areas before the campaign begins.
