Tyreek Hill appears to accuse Noah Lyles of ducking him following cancellation of race

For a long time, there was talk of a race in the works between Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill and U.S. sprinter Noah Lyles.

However, the race now appears to be off, with Lyles saying that there were some “things, complications, personal reasons that it just didn’t come to pass.”

“We were very deep into creating the event,” Lyles said. “In fact, it was supposed to happen this weekend.

“Unfortunately, there were some things, complications, personal reasons that it just didn’t come to pass, but, I mean, we were all in. … We were gonna shut down New York Times Square and everything. … It was gonna be a lot of fun.”

On Tuesday, Hill took to social media and seemingly accused Lyles of ducking him.

Last week, Hill participated in a different race and trolled Lyles afterward.

Hill and Lyles had exchanged plenty of trash-talk about who would win if they raced. Now, unless a new event gets scheduled, it seems like fans won’t get a definitive answer as to which of the two athletes would come out on top.

Hill was a two-time state track champion in high school. Lyles, for his part, is an Olympic gold medalist.

The cancellation of the event may allow Hill to turn his full attention to the upcoming Dolphins season, which certainly isn’t a bad thing for Miami. After Hill had a down 2024 season, he’s looking to bounce back and prove that he’s still one of the most explosive players in the NFL.

Hill finished each of his first two seasons with the Dolphins with over 1,700 receiving yards. He then regressed to under 1,000 receiving yards last season as he played through injury and had to catch passes from a variety of quarterbacks due to availability woes surrounding usual starter Tua Tagovailoa.

A big season from Hill would go a long way for the Dolphins, but it’s team success that the organization is truly after, as Miami is trying to return to the playoffs and get an elusive postseason win.

Hill is also aware of that goal, and if he and the Dolphins accomplish it, maybe he’ll circle back with Lyles next offseason after taking care of business on the football field.
