The 2025 NFL Draft is a mere stone’s throw away, as it will get started on April 24, and the Miami Dolphins seemingly have plenty of room for improvement as they look to bounce back from an underwhelming 2024 season.

According to NFL insider Jonathan Jones, the Dolphins are being eyed as possible quarterback-grabbers in the second, third or fourth rounds of the draft.

“The Miami Dolphins are the other team sources are eyeing as a potential quarterback-grabber in the second, third or fourth rounds,” Jones wrote. “Miami has 10 picks total, including four picks in those three rounds, so they have the ammunition to do it.”

Quarterback Quinn Ewers is one prospect who’s been linked to the Dolphins, as the team reportedly had dinner with the young man recently. He could be a realistic target for Miami as well, as he’s been projected to still be on the board by the second (or maybe even third) day of the draft.

It’s worth noting that one of the Dolphins’ more notable free-agent acquisitions came at the all-important quarterback position.

Signal-caller Zach Wilson and the Dolphins agreed to terms on a one-year deal last month. He had an up-and-down 2023 campaign with the New York Jets in his most recent NFL action. He threw for 2,271 passing yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. New York had a record of 4-7 in the games he started.

The Dolphins already have a talented starting quarterback โ€” Tua Tagovailoa โ€” in the fold, and when at full strength, he’s proven that he can put up numbers that rival the best players at his position in the NFL. He played in all 17 games in the 2023 season and led the league with 4,624 passing yards.

But Tagovailoa was not a consistent presence on the field for Miami in the 2024 season due to injuries. He played in only 11 contests โ€” his fewest in a single campaign since he was a rookie in the 2020 season โ€” due to head and hip injuries.

Considering Tagovailoa’s injury history and Wilson’s shaky record as a starting quarterback, Miami would maybe benefit from adding another quarterback via the draft and having another safety blanket at the position.
