Former U.S. President Donald Trump was the target of an apparent assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, giving way to one of the biggest news days in recent memory.
The sports world had plenty to say about the matter, and a couple of Miami Dolphins players also chimed in.
First, Blake Ferguson, a long snapper for the Dolphins who is often outspoken with his political views, shared a pro-Trump post to social media.

Trump was escorted off the rally stage to safety after apparent gunshots caused a panic. He was bloodied in the chaos and later said he was shot in the ear. He is “fine,” according to a spokesperson.
The suspected shooter, who was set up from an elevated position outside the rally venue, was killed by Secret Service agents. Tragically, one spectator was killed, and two others were critically wounded.
The stunning development comes just months before Trump is set to challenge current U.S. President Joe Biden in November’s election. This election season was already shaping up to be a memorable one even before Trump’s life was put in jeopardy on Saturday.
In U.S. history, four sitting presidents have been assassinated. They were Abraham Lincoln, James A. Garfield, William McKinley and John F. Kennedy.
One has to imagine that future events for Trump and other politicians may come with adjusted security measures after the 78-year-old’s life nearly came to an end on Saturday.
Biden released a statement on the situation in Pennsylvania.
“I have been briefed on the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania,” the statement read.
“I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information.
“Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.”
He also spoke to the press about Saturday’s events.
“The idea that there’s political violence or violence in America like this is just unheard of. It’s just not appropriate. Everybody — everybody — must condemn it,” Pres. For the Dolphins, Ferguson and Hill will likely keep tabs on any new information that surfaces, as will countless others around the country. An investigation into Saturday’s events is ongoing.
