The Miami Dolphins appear to be interested in bolstering their secondary through the draft process.
According to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, the Dolphins are “eager” to add talented cornerbacks that way and brought in University of Central Florida corner B.J. Adams to the team’s headquarters on Monday.
Miami has met with a number of players at a variety of positions ahead of the draft.
“The Dolphins, eager to add talented cornerbacks in the draft process, brought UCF’s BJ Adams to team headquarters on Monday, a UCF source said,” Jackson wrote.
The 2025 NFL Draft kicks off later this month, and Miami has a plethora of picks that it could use to land a corner.
In addition to that, the Dolphins could look to sign a player as an undrafted free agent, similar to how it added cornerback Storm Duck to the roster last offseason. Duck ended up playing in 14 games for the Dolphins as a rookie and made three starts.
The Dolphins have 10 picks in the upcoming draft, including three in the seventh round. Miami’s first pick is the No. 13 selection in the first round, and it has a fifth-round pick from the Denver Broncos and a seventh-round pick from the Chicago Bears as part of its arsenal.

Adams, who spent four seasons at UCF, finished the 2024 season with 14 tackles, two passes defended and a pair of interceptions in nine games. He had one interception that he returned for a touchdown against Iowa State University.
While the Dolphins are returning multiple corners from last season’s team, they’ve also lost a couple players at the position this offseason, and it’s looking like they might have whiffed on a recent cornerback draft pick in Cam Smith.
A second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Smith has appeared in 21 games in his NFL career (he has yet to make a start) and is still trying to prove that he can live up to his potential.
Since Smith has not developed into a clear-cut starter for Miami, it makes sense that the franchise may want to add some more youth to the roster in the secondary.
The Dolphins missed the playoffs last season, and they certainly have a bunch of holes to fill if they want to get back into the postseason in the 2025 campaign. It’ll be interesting to see if they draft a cornerback with one of their picks this year.
