Hall of Famer Jason Taylor is seen as one of the most disruptive defensive players ever to suit up for the Miami Dolphins organization. His NFL career spanned 15 seasons, and he spent an overwhelming majority of that time with Miami.
His accomplishments with the Dolphins speak volumes. Across his 13 seasons (and multiple stints) in Miami, he was named to six Pro Bowls, earned a Defensive Player of the Year nod and led the league in key categories some seasons.
While Taylor is far removed from his NFL tenure and last played for the Dolphins in the 2011 season, Miami has been linked to someone with familial ties to Taylor with just a couple of weeks separating now from the start of the 2025 NFL Draft. Based on a report, Taylor’s son Mason may be a name to watch.

Unlike his father, the younger Taylor plays on the offensive side of the ball. He was a valuable part of Louisiana State University’s offense in the 2024 collegiate campaign. Across 12 games played for the Tigers, he accumulated 546 receiving yards and 55 receptions. That gave him an average of 45.5 receiving yards per game, and he also caught two touchdowns.
The Dolphins may be looking for another weapon at tight end. Veteran Jonnu Smith enjoyed a career year and was one of the Dolphins’ top offensive players last season, as he finished with the second-most receiving yards on the team behind only wide receiver Tyreek Hill. But no other tight end for Miami totaled more than 100 receiving yards during the 2024 season.
Fortunately for the Dolphins, they won’t be lacking in picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, and Miami could maybe benefit from using one of its picks to take a chance on the youngster. Miami is slated to make 10 picks in total. The team has seven picks in the first five rounds of the draft along with a trio of seventh-round picks.
If nothing else, it would make for an incredibly cool story if the younger Taylor landed with the Dolphins years after his father starred with the team.
