Terron Armstead makes emotional statement about injuries suffered in his NFL career: ‘I’m a fighter’

Offensive tackle Terron Armstead’s time playing for the Miami Dolphins organization has come to an end. He officially announced his decision to retire from the NFL after he played 12 seasons.

Armstead also recently made an emotional statement regarding his resiliency to fight through injuries in his NFL career.

Poor injury luck plagued Armstead throughout his pro tenure, as he never played in a full slate of games in any of his seasons in the NFL. Plus, in half of his 12 seasons, he played in 10 games or fewer. He logged just 10 appearances with the Dolphins not all that long ago in the 2023 season.

Interestingly, though Armstead did have stretches of his career when he was bit by the injury bug pretty badly, he was a relatively reliable presence on the field for the Dolphins in his final NFL season.

Armstead played in 15 games with the Dolphins in the 2024 season, and that’s tied for the most games he played in a single season in his career.

Before Armstead spent the final three seasons of his career with the Dolphins, he carved out a long stint with the New Orleans Saints, who drafted him in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. It was with the Saints and quarterback Drew Brees that Armstead saw the lion’s share of his playoff action in the league, as he logged nine playoff starts with New Orleans compared to only two with Miami.

Even with all of the injuries that Armstead had to deal with over the years, he still managed to carve out quite a memorable career in the league. He earned five Pro Bowl appearances, and he was selected to participate in the Pro Bowl in all but one season in a six-season span from the 2018 campaign through the 2023 season. He earned the last Pro Bowl selection of his tenure in the 2023 campaign.

While some Dolphins fans may be disappointed about the news of Armstead’s decision to end his NFL career and his stint in Miami, those same folks should look back on Armstead’s three-season stint with the team with fondness.
