Jessica Pegula, daughter of Bills owners, throws shade at Dolphins after winning tennis match

The Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills have had some battles over the years as the two teams have vied for supremacy in the AFC East division.

Buffalo has won the division in five straight seasons, including every season since Mike McDaniel took over as the head coach of the Dolphins, but the Dolphins and Bills did finish with identical 11-6 records in the 2023 campaign.

Miami and Buffalo have also faced off in the playoffs one time during the McDaniel era. The Bills came out on top in that matchup in January of 2023 by a final score of 34-31.

Terry Pegula and his wife Kim own the Bills. Their daughter Jessica Pegula, a tennis star, recently threw shade at the Dolphins after she secured a win in a tennis match that was held at Miami’s home stadium, Hard Rock Stadium.

“I love playing here,” Jessica Pegula said after winning the match. “I love playing at home. I love getting wins in the Dolphins stadium, just saying. Sorry guys. I always play really well here. I really do.”

Jessica Pegula is competing in the Miami Open and punched her ticket to the semifinals with her victory over Emma Raducanu of Great Britain on Wednesday. She is slated to take on Alexandra Eala of the Philippines on Thursday.

At least one player on the Dolphins’ current roster has been on record taking shots at fans of the Bills as well as the city of Buffalo, N.Y.

Prior to the start of the 2024 season, tight end Jonnu Smith — who enjoyed a career year in his maiden season with the Dolphins — insinuated that the city the Bills call home isn’t a hugely desirable place to live.

The Bills enjoyed a far more successful 2024 season than the Dolphins did. While Miami missed out on the playoffs and saw quarterback Tua Tagovailoa miss a sizable period of time with injuries, Buffalo finished with the second-best record of any team in the AFC at 13-4.

However, the Bills still flamed out in the playoffs and came up short of a Super Bowl victory (or appearance). Buffalo lost to star quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs by three points in the AFC Championship Game back on Jan. 26. The team was outscored in three of the four quarters of that contest.
