On Friday, the Miami Dolphins released running back Raheem Mostert along with two other players, cornerback Kendall Fuller and tight end Durham Smythe. Mostert had a 2024 season to forget, as he totaled just 278 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns across 13 games played.

But he enjoyed some of his most productive seasons in the NFL to this point during his time in Miami. As recently as the 2023 season, he ran for 1,012 yards as well as a league-high 18 touchdowns.

Mostert’s wife penned him a heartfelt message on social media in light of his stint with the Dolphins coming to an end.

She added that the running back is “relentlessly motivated.”

What some folks might not know is that Mostert played for Miami years before his most recent stint with the team. He suited up in one game with the team back in the 2015 season. He was just a rookie at that point.

Across his two stints, the running back played in a total of 45 regular-season games with the Dolphins organization. In that time, he racked up 2,181 rushing yards, 23 rushing touchdowns and 116 first downs rushing. He also totaled 538 receiving yards, five receiving touchdowns and 27 first downs receiving.

The Dolphins provided Mostert with opportunities for playing time that he didn’t get elsewhere. He has started 39 regular-season contests in his pro career, with 30 of those coming with the Dolphins.

Mostert was fortunate enough to play for some solid Dolphins squads as well, as Miami reached the playoffs on multiple occasions with him in the fold.

But he is still seeking the first Super Bowl ring of his pro career after the Dolphins didn’t win a single playoff game with him. The last time he played in a deep playoff run came several years ago when he was a member of the San Francisco 49ers. They lost to the Kansas City Chiefs and star quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl in the 2019 season.

Mostert is getting up there in age, as he will turn 33 this offseason, but he’ll look to land on his feet with a new team and try to make a push for his first NFL championship.
