Report: Chiefs were ‘stranded’ in Kansas City as they tried to fly to Denver for Sunday’s game

In order for the Miami Dolphins to have a shot at making the playoffs, the Kansas City Chiefs need to come out on top in their regular-season finale against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

But Mother Nature reportedly messed with the Chiefs’ travel schedule on Saturday. Thanks to icy conditions, the Chiefs were reportedly stranded in Kansas City for hours.

Fortunately, the problem was eventually fixed.

The Chiefs haven’t picked up a single loss in a long time. Kansas City is on a six-game winning streak right now, and its lone loss of the campaign came to the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 17.

K.C. didn’t exactly get blown out in that game either. The Chiefs lost by nine points and were trailing by only two heading into the fourth quarter.

The problem for the Dolphins, needing a Chiefs win on Sunday, is that Kansas City is going to be resting key players against the Broncos. As a result, Denver is heavily favored in the matchup. It’s a tough break for the Dolphins, who would otherwise have to feel good about the odds of a 15-1 team getting a win over a 9-7 team.

While Miami’s chances of making the playoffs partly hinge on the outcome of the game in Denver, the Dolphins have one more game to play themselves before the end of their regular season. Miami will take on the New York Jets on Sunday, and a loss for the Dolphins would eliminate them from playoff contention.

In summary, Miami needs a win and a Broncos loss in order to make the playoffs for a third consecutive season. While the Dolphins may be facing long odds of reaching the postseason, there has to be some element of excitement that they’re even alive in Week 18 after they were several games under .500 earlier this season.

Hopefully, Kansas City’s travel issues on Saturday won’t impact the team’s chances of getting a win on Sunday so that Miami can have a shot at extending its season.
