When Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers scored a touchdown in the third quarter of the team’s matchup against the Miami Dolphins, he celebrated in the end zone by doing the iconic Donald Trump dance.
Trump, the president-elect, could be seen doing his iconic dance numerous times in the rallies that he held leading up to the election earlier this month.
Bowers was later asked why he celebrated his touchdown in such a manner, and he cited the fact that UFC star Jon Jones did the same dance to celebrate his victory over Stipe Miocic on Nov. 16. Trump also just so happened to be in attendance for UFC 309, which was held at Madison Square Garden.
Bowers is quite the spring chicken, considering he is in his first NFL season and just 21 years old. But he seems to have already found his groove in the NFL.
The youngster is on pace to finish the campaign with 1,000-plus receiving yards. Across 10 games played, he has totaled 706 receiving yards and is averaging 70.6 receiving yards per contest.
Plus, against the Dolphins, he was maybe Las Vegas’ best offensive player. He totaled 126 receiving yards — more than double the number of any other player on the team — and one receiving touchdown on 13 receptions.
His big game wasn’t enough to lead the Raiders to a win however, as the Dolphins picked up a 34-19 victory to improve to 4-6 on the season.
Miami’s victory over the Raiders also marked its second straight win. The Dolphins beat the Los Angeles Rams by eight points on Nov. 11 thanks to an impressive showing from their defensive unit.
A tight end came up big for the Dolphins as well on Nov. 16, considering Jonnu Smith totaled 101 receiving yards and a pair of receiving touchdowns. Smith is in his first season playing for the Dolphins after he spent time with the Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons.
Fans of the NFL shouldn’t be surprised if more players around the league celebrate touchdowns with a Trump dance in light of the 78-year-old’s victory in the election.
