Jalen Ramsey opens up on return to SoFi Stadium: ‘I’ll try to keep my emotions intact’

When the Miami Dolphins take on the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night, Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey will make his return to SoFi Stadium. Before he was dealt to the Dolphins in the 2023 offseason, he spent three-plus seasons with the Rams and earned several Pro Bowl selections during his time in Los Angeles.

Ahead of the game, Ramsey implied that he will be emotional when he runs out on the field at SoFi Stadium. But ultimately, his priority is to help the Dolphins earn their third win of the season.

“It’s going to be a great moment,” Ramsey said of running out onto SoFi Stadium field through the tunnel. “I’ll try to keep my emotions intact, so I can focus on the task at hand. Try to go in there, get a win no matter what.”

Ramsey has been a mainstay in the Dolphins’ defensive lineup so far in his second year with the team, considering he has yet to sit out a game since the start of the 2024 regular season. In eight starts, he has accumulated one interception, 29 combined tackles, 17 solo tackles, 12 assisted tackles, four tackles for loss and a pair of quarterback hits.

Interestingly, his lone interception of the campaign to this point came in Miami’s most recent game, which was against the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 3. The Dolphins still went on to lose that game by three points.

While Ramsey returning to SoFi stadium for the first time in a while is certainly an important storyline ahead of the Dolphins-Rams matchup, a Miami win would seemingly make the experience even sweeter for him.

Monday’s game could prove to be a solid barometer as to whether the Dolphins can realistically finish the season strong and compete for a spot in the playoffs. The Rams’ record of 4-4 isn’t anything to write home about, but over the past few weeks, Los Angeles has arguably played as well as any team in football.

The Rams are winners of each of their past three contests, and they haven’t lost a game in over a month. Los Angeles’ last loss was to the Green Bay Packers by five points back on Oct. 6.

After playing the Rams on Monday, the Dolphins will face off against the Las Vegas Raiders on Nov. 17.
