A number of injury developments regarding the Miami Dolphins arose during the team’s practice on Friday ahead of Monday’s clash against the Los Angeles Rams.
For one, cornerback Cam Smith seemingly suffered a knee injury during the portion of practice that was available to the media. He reportedly got looked at by team trainers and was seen testing his knee by bouncing around and running in place.
While the development likely caused some concern, Smith himself has since said that he is fine.
Smith has appeared in two straight games for the Dolphins after he missed several games to start the season due to a hamstring injury.
Meanwhile, offensive tackle Austin Jackson, who is dealing with a knee injury, did not participate in practice on Friday after he sat out Thursday’s practice as well.
Wide receiver Tyreek Hill was also not seen at practice on Friday, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s dealing with an injury. It could have been a simple rest day or a personal absence.
Jackson and Hill have both started all eight games for the Dolphins this season.
If Jackson can’t play, the Dolphins could turn to offensive tackle Kendall Lamm on Monday.
Some other practice notes were also provided on X.
When it comes to Hill, his status could be nothing to worry about, but if doesn’t play in the matchup against the Rams, his absence will be felt. After all, following a rough patch earlier in the season, Hill has looked more like himself ever since quarterback Tua Tagovailoa returned to the field.
The Dolphins are 2-6 and desperately need a win in order to keep their playoff hopes alive. Their remaining margin for error is extremely slim, and they’re going to need to start building some momentum immediately. A win over the Rams would certainly be a step in the right direction for the struggling squad.
