Report: Miami Dolphins down to 2 healthy QBs in organization after latest development

The Jacksonville Jaguars further depleted the Miami Dolphins’ depth at the quarterback position with a move they made on Wednesday.

The Jaguars signed signal-caller C.J. Beathard from the Dolphins’ practice squad, which means that Miami currently has just two healthy quarterbacks in the organization: Tua Tagovailoa and Skylar Thompson.

Quarterback Tyler Huntley is also still with the Dolphins, but he’s on the shelf. He injured his right shoulder in Miami’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts back on Oct. 20.

Tagovailoa missed four games for the Dolphins earlier this season due to a concussion but has played solid football in the team’s last two contests.

First, he finished with 234 passing yards, one passing touchdown and no interceptions in his much-anticipated return to the field against the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 27.

Then, in the Dolphins’ most recent contest against the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 3, he totaled two passing touchdowns compared to zero interceptions while completing 25 of his 28 passing attempts.

Ever since Tagovailoa regained his role as Miami’s starting quarterback, the team’s offense has looked quite potent. The Dolphins have scored a whopping 54 points combined in their two most recent games.

However, Miami is still winless since his return thanks partly to subpar play from its defensive unit. As a team, the Dolphins gave up 28 points against the Cardinals (there was a safety involved) and then allowed 30 against the best team in the AFC East division so far this season in the Bills.

Plus, the odds may be stacked against the Dolphins to pick up their first win in several weeks when they play their next game against the Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 11. The Rams are rolling right now, as the team is riding a three-game winning streak and will have the benefit of playing the Dolphins at home.

The Dolphins would be wise to add another quarterback in light of losing Beathard, but hopefully, Tagovailoa can remain healthy for the rest of the season so that Miami won’t have to rely on another name at the all-important position.
