Report: Raheem Mostert optimistic about playing in Week 4 vs. Titans

Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert hasn’t played for the team since its season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 8 because of a chest injury, and he didn’t even look quite like himself against Jacksonville. Mostert totaled just nine rushing yards on six carries, which means he averaged only 1.5 yards per carry.

While Mostert has been sidelined for weeks now, there seems to be a chance that he will make his return to the field versus the Tennessee Titans on Monday.

If he were feeling up to play against Tennessee, Mostert’s presence could prove to be a major boost for a Dolphins offense that has struggled mightily to score the ball ever since Tua Tagovailoa went down with a concussion against the Buffalo Bills.

The Dolphins didn’t put any more points up against the Bills after Tagovailoa left the game, and Miami mustered only three points in its loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 22.

Miami’s running game hasn’t given fans of the team much to cheer about lately. The Dolphins finished with only 65 rushing yards as a team against Seattle, and second-year player De’Von Achane accumulated the most rushing yards of any player on the squad with 30 on 11 carries.

Mostert played as well as any of Miami’s running backs did during the 2023 regular season. He totaled 1,012 rushing yards, a league-high 18 rushing touchdowns and 59 first downs rushing in 15 starts with the team.

The 32-year-old also averaged 67.5 rushing yards per contest last season, which is more than the Dolphins’ offense managed to rack up as a unit versus the Seahawks.

The Titans stand out as a team that makes sense for Mostert to make his return against. Tennessee is 0-3 on the season and has one of the worst defenses in the NFL when it comes to limiting rushing yards, as the team has allowed 124.3 rushing yards per contest thus far.

Dolphins fans should knock on wood and wish that Mostert will not only play on Monday but have a big game against a porous Titans defense.
