The Miami Dolphins are dealing with major trouble at the quarterback position after their usual starter Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in Week 2 before second-stringer Skylar Thompson suffered an injury of his own in Week 3.

While the Dolphins can hope for the best regarding Thompson’s status moving forward, they may need to start seriously looking at adding some outside quarterback help.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter thinks the Dolphins should take a look at three quarterbacks: Russell Wilson, Zach Wilson and Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

“There are three quarterbacks, in my mind, that make sense,” Schefter said. “Now, I’m not telling you that they have or will reach out to any of these quarterbacks, but I think I’d call Denver, and I’d say, ‘What would you want for Zach Wilson?’ I would call Pittsburgh, and I would say, ‘What would you want for Russell Wilson?’ And I would call Cleveland and say, ‘What do you want for Dorian Thompson-Robinson?'”

Zach Wilson hasn’t seen any action this season for the Denver Broncos as he’s buried on the team’s depth chart, but he has plenty of starting experience from his time with the New York Jets.

It didn’t exactly go smoothly for the former No. 2 overall pick with New York, but he was serviceable at times. In his final season with the Jets, he completed 60.1 percent of his passes for 2,271 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions in 12 games (11 starts).

Meanwhile, Russell Wilson is dealing with a calf injury that has kept him out of the first three games this season for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In his absence, second-stringer Justin Fields has stepped up and led the Steelers to a 3-0 start, so one has to imagine that Pittsburgh may be taking a close look at sticking with Fields even once Russell Wilson is healthy.

As for Thompson-Robinson, he’s another player who’s buried on his team’s depth chart. The Cleveland Browns haven’t used him this season, but he did get some opportunities last season as a rookie.

It wasn’t beautiful for him during his rookie season, as he completed 53.6 percent of his passes for 440 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions in eight games (three starts). But, he did have an impressive college career and still has a lot of potential.

There are options out there for the Dolphins if they want to try to improve their quarterback situation, but it’s anyone’s guess as to which direction the team will take.

Tagovailoa won’t be eligible to return until Week 8 against the Arizona Cardinals. The Dolphins will have to get through a minimum of three more games without him.
