With starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on injured reserve, the Miami Dolphins have made a few moves before they visit the Seattle Seahawks for their Week 3 contest.
According to their official X (formerly Twitter) account, they have elevated quarterback Tim Boyle and wide receivers Dee Eskridge and Erik Ezukanma from the practice squad to the main roster, and they have placed wide receiver Grant DuBose on the injured reserve.
Boyle is in his seventh season out of Eastern Kentucky University. He started his NFL career in the 2018 season as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers, and he had short stints with the Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears and New York Jets before the Dolphins signed him to their practice squad a few weeks ago.
He has career totals of 934 passing yards, four touchdown passes and 12 interceptions in 20 games. He has started in five of those 20 contests, and he will be third on Miami’s depth chart as long as Tagovailoa is out.
Eskridge was a second-round pick in 2021 by the Seahawks. He has totaled 17 catches, 122 yards and one touchdown in his three previous pro seasons.
Ezukanma, a fourth-round choice by Miami in 2022, has just one reception for three yards and five rushing attempts for 22 yards in his two seasons in the league.
Dubose, an undrafted rookie this year, made his lone catch in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills for 13 yards.
In Tagovailoa’s absence, Skylar Thompson is set to start versus the Seahawks. After Tagovailoa suffered his concussion in Week 2, Thompson played the rest of the way and completed eight of 14 pass attempts for 80 yards.
The Dolphins actually have an opportunity to fatten up their 1-1 record a bit in the coming weeks. After playing Seattle, they will return to South Florida to host the Tennessee Titans before visiting the rebuilding New England Patriots. Following their bye in Week 6, they will then play the Indianapolis Colts and Arizona Cardinals.
