Report: Bills fans have donated over $16K to Tua Foundation since Thursday night

Fans of the Buffalo Bills donated quite a bit to the Tua Foundation after Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered the third concussion of his NFL career on Thursday.

On Friday, it was reported that more than $16,000 had been donated to the foundation since Thursday night, and the lion’s share of that money was allegedly donated by fans of the Bills.

Folks who wish to donate to the Tua Foundation can do so by clicking this link. According to the foundation’s website, it’s a “nonprofit organization dedicated to the support of youth initiatives, health and wellness, and other charitable causes.”

The Tua Foundation even has its own board of directors along with an advisory committee.

Tagovailoa sustained a concussion in the third quarter of Buffalo’s blowout victory over the Dolphins. He suffered the injury after Bills safety Damar Hamlin made contact with Tagovailoa’s helmet as the latter scrambled for a first down.

After taking the hit from Hamlin, Tagovailoa went into a fencing position, which is a reflex that occurs after someone suffers a significant brain injury. He then exited the game and was ruled out to return to the field against Buffalo.

Tagovailoa did not play at his best against Buffalo before he went down with a concussion. He threw for only 145 yards and also totaled triple the number of interceptions as he did touchdowns in his second game of the 2024 regular season (three to one).

But to Tagovailoa’s defense, arguably no offensive player for Miami outside of running back De’Von Achane — who totaled 96 rushing yards and 69 receiving yards — had a particularly great game. Even wide receiver Tyreek Hill didn’t make much of an impact, considering he finished with only 24 receiving yards after he racked up a team-high 130 in Miami’s season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 8.

The Dolphins are now 1-1 on the season after Thursday’s loss. Perhaps more importantly, they currently have a lot of question marks at the quarterback position now that Tagovailoa is dealing with an injury at the moment.
