Anthony Schwartz breaks his silence after being placed on season-ending IR

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Anthony Schwartz shared a message on social media after he was placed on season-ending injured reserve due to a torn ligament in his knee.

A third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Schwartz spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons playing for the Cleveland Browns. He did not appear in an NFL game during the 2023 season due to an injury.

After playing high school football in Florida, Schwartz attended Auburn University before turning pro. He appeared in 25 games over his first two NFL seasons, making three starts. The young wideout has 14 career receptions for 186 yards and one touchdown.

It’s unfortunate to see Schwartz’s 2024 season come to an end before the regular season kicks off, especially since he would’ve gotten a chance to play for his hometown team.

His injury leaves the Dolphins with a little less depth at receiver behind stars Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle in Mike McDaniel’s offense.

A 23-year-old, Schwartz still has time to make a name for himself in the NFL, but missing back-to-back seasons is certainly going to make things tougher on him to make a roster in the future.

The young receiver will need to get healthy to prove that he is still a quality player after being a third-round pick just a few seasons ago.

Miami’s offense should still be a potent one with players like Hill, Waddle, De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert surrounding quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Last season, Miami scored the second most points in the NFL (behind only the Dallas Cowboys) and put up the most total yards. It ended up with an 11-6 record because of its elite scoring ability.

Tagovailoa had arguably the best season of his career, throwing for an NFL-leading 4,624 yards last season, while posting career-highs in completion percentage (69.3 percent) and touchdown passes (29).

While Schwartz will have to watch from the sideline in the 2024 campaign, the Dolphins are hoping to get back to the playoffs for the third straight season.

Hopefully for Schwartz, he will get another chance with Miami in the 2025 campaign. It’s clear that the 23-year-old would love a chance to play in the regular season for his hometown team at some point in his professional career.
