Track and field star Noah Lyles โ€” who represented the United States in the 2024 Paris Olympics โ€” is apparently not too familiar with Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

“What’s that guy’s โ€” what’s the Cheetah guy from football?” Lyles asked. “Well, I can’t remember his name.”

Lyles’ comments come in light of Hill claiming that he could beat the 27-year-old in a race.

Lyles has made headlines for commenting on another athlete recently, too. He was invited to an event that marked the release of Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards’ signature shoe but seemingly got offended by the offer in part because Edwards has yet to play in an NBA Finals.

โ€œYou want to do what?” Lyles said of the invitation he received. “You want to invite me to [an event for] a man who has not even been to an NBA Finals? In a sport that you donโ€™t even care about? And youโ€™re giving him a shoe?โ€

It’s worth noting that Lyles earned one gold medal and one bronze medal for the United States during his stint in Paris. His gold medal came in the 100 meters event and his bronze came in the 200 meters.

But Lyles has more than two medals to his name. He earned another bronze medal in the 200 meters at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

While Lyles is quite an accomplished track and field athlete, Hill has proven himself to be an impressive speedster as well in spurts. For example, in Hill’s rookie season โ€” back when he was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs organization โ€” he was recorded at a top speed of 23.24 miles per hour during a kick return.

Plus, he was recorded at a top speed of more than 21.5 miles per hour four times during the 2023 season, which marked his second season playing for the Dolphins franchise.

Hill is fresh off the best season of his pro career so far from an individual standpoint. He racked up career-highs in receiving yards (1,799) as well as first downs receiving (83) across 16 regular-season games played with the Dolphins.

Here’s to hoping that folks will be able to see Hill face off against Lyles in a race in the near future, as such a matchup would make for entertaining television. Also, it would help to definitively answer which of the two is the superior runner.
