A list of the top 100 players in the NFL going into the 2024 season — based on voting from players themselves — is in the process of being released.
While the full list hasn’t been revealed yet, a majority of it is already public, with Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert coming in at No. 60.
On Friday, he reacted to his ranking.
“I was pretty [low],” Mostert said regarding his ranking. “I was a little distraught because I thought I was going to be a little bit [higher], but honestly, it just gives me more motivation to work even harder.
“I did what I did last year, but now it’s time to move on. It’s Year 2024, and I got bigger and better things that I want to get accomplished.
“I want to help this team as much as I possibly can because it’s gonna be nice to have a championship down here in South Florida.”
Mostert may be disappointed by his ranking, but some would argue that he should be proud, especially since this is his first time making the list.
He is fresh off of undoubtedly the most productive season of his pro career so far. Across 15 starts for the Dolphins during the 2023 regular season, Mostert totaled career-highs in rushing yards (1,012), first downs rushing (59) and rushing touchdowns (18) while also leading the league in that last category.
The 32-year-old averaged 4.8 rushing yards per attempt and 67.5 rushing yards per game along the way.
His production earned him the first Pro Bowl nod of his NFL career. It’s worth noting that he has played in the league for nearly a decade now, as he began his time in the pros in the 2015 campaign.
Mostert was a major reason why the Dolphins had one of the best rushing offenses in the NFL last season. Miami averaged 135.8 rushing yards per game as a team, which ranked sixth out of 32 teams in the league.
The Purdue University product staked his claim as arguably Miami’s most productive running back. But De’Von Achane — who was a rookie last season — had a noteworthy season at the position as well, considering he accumulated 800 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns in just 11 games during his inaugural season in the pros.
Unfortunately, as was the case with most of Miami’s offense, Mostert underperformed in the team’s playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in January. He did lead Miami in rushing yards but totaled just 33 on eight carries, and the Dolphins finished the game with only 76 rushing yards as a team, which was well below their regular-season average in that regard.
They’re certainly hungry for a different ending this coming season.
