Former star NFL running back in Le’Veon Bell went on a rant on X (formerly known as Twitter) regarding former Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase.
I still randomly think about how PISSED I used to be in the huddle when Adam Gase would call “21 dive” on 2nd & 10 …

“LeV I just need you to get 3 for a third and manageable” – Gase

Bell played for Gase during the 2019 and 2020 NFL seasons, when the latter was the head coach of the New York Jets.
In Bell’s only full season with New York in 2019, he totaled 789 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns and 36 first downs rushing across 15 games played during the regular season. He also averaged 52.6 rushing yards per contest and 16.3 rushing attempts per game for a Jets team that ended up with a mediocre 7-9 record.
But before Gase coached Bell on the Jets, he served as the head coach of the Dolphins for three seasons, from the 2016 season through the 2018 campaign.
Gase’s first season leading the Dolphins from the sidelines was impressive from a statistical standpoint. Miami won 10 of its 16 regular-season games and managed to reach the playoffs, though the team lost its first playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers by a final score of 30-12.
But after Gase’s auspicious maiden season in Miami, the Dolphins didn’t see the same amount of success in his final two seasons as the team’s head coach. In the 2017 regular season, the Dolphins ended up with a 6-10 record, and their record wasn’t much better in the 2018 regular season, as Miami ended up 7-9 and finished second in the AFC East division.
Gase hasn’t served as a head coach for an NFL team since he coached the Jets to a miserable 2-14 record in the 2020 regular season. That iteration of the Jets had a very hard time scoring the ball, considering New York totaled just 243 points on the season, the fewest of any team in the NFL that year.
Bell’s rant regarding Gase suggests that the star running back turned boxer wasn’t a fan of the 46-year-old’s coaching strategies. NFL fans shouldn’t expect Gase to be the head coach of an NFL team anytime soon after how his last season coaching the Jets panned out.
