Report: Miami Dolphins spoke to OL prospect who had ‘outstanding’ Pro Day

The Miami Dolphins reportedly spoke to University of Louisville offensive lineman Bryan Hudson, who had an impressive showing at his Pro Day.

The Los Angeles Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars also spoke with Hudson, while all 32 NFL teams had scouts in attendance for his Pro Day.

It was recently reported that the Dolphins told at least one free agent offensive lineman that they’d check back with him after the 2024 NFL Draft, so it’s possible that Hudson is one of the players the team is debating about adding this offseason.

Miami has six picks in the 2024 NFL Draft, four of which come in the fifth, sixth or seventh round. The team’s first draft pick comes at No. 21 overall in the first round.

According to NFL Draft Buzz, one of Hudson’s strengths comes in the run game. The Louisville product “comes off the snap quickly and is excellent with hand placement,” and he apparently has solid footwork that helps him get to the second level to block.

The scouting report on Hudson also praises his power, stating that he has the “upper-body strength and strong hands to outbattle defenders.” Not only that, but Hudson does a good job against speed rushers, often sending them “flying past the pocket” due to his solid footwork and strength.

However, it’s possible he could struggle with the quickness at the next level. Per NFL Draft Buzz, he “might be no more than a wall-off, angle blocker.”

Still, if the Dolphins are looking at Hudson with a late-round pick – or as an undrafted free agent – he could be worth a flier after an impressive Pro Day.

With the Dolphins losing interior offensive lineman Robert Hunt this offseason, a player like Hudson could make sense.

Hunt, who started 55 of the 61 games that he appeared in with the Dolphins, signed a massive deal worth $100 million over five seasons with the Carolina Panthers in free agency.

The Dolphins need to keep quarterback Tua Tagovailoa protected, so adding young talent on the offensive line would make a lot of sense.

The 2024 NFL Draft will begin on Thursday, April 25, and the Dolphins will know if they land Hudson or another offensive lineman in the draft by the end of that weekend.
