Tyreek Hill reacts to his former Chiefs teammate choosing Dolphins over multiple teams

On Thursday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported that former Kansas City Chiefs tight end Jody Fortson has agreed to sign with the Miami Dolphins and team up with Tyreek Hill once again despite having multiple other offers on the table.

Hill gleefully reacted to the news on X.

The two players played together on the Chiefs during the 2021 season, when Hill was in his sixth and last season in Kansas City.

That iteration of the Chiefs ended up winning 12 games during the regular season, but Fortson wasn’t a major contributor that season, which was the first season in which he made a regular-season appearance in. He played in only six games during the regular season and accumulated 47 receiving yards, three first downs receiving and two receiving touchdowns on five receptions.

Hill, on the other hand, had already established himself as one of the elite wide receivers in the NFL. The 30-year-old appeared in each of Kansas City’s 17 regular-season contests and racked up 1,239 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns while averaging 72.9 receiving yards per game.

He stepped up his game during the Chiefs’ playoff run that season, which ended at the hands of the Cincinnati Bengals. Hill averaged 95.0 receiving yards per game, a pretty big step up from his regular-season average

Fortson hardly improved upon his numbers from the 2021 regular season in the 2022 regular season. He did play in more than double the number of games he did a season ago by making 13 appearances, but he ended up with just 108 receiving yards, two receiving touchdowns and six first downs receiving in his second NFL season.

Plus, he averaged a measly 8.3 receiving yards per game.

It remains to be seen if Fortson has the chops to be a highly productive tight end in the NFL, but one of the Dolphins’ most talented players in Hill is seemingly happy about the move and excited to reunite with his former teammate.
